IGN: Tell us a bit about the overall state of Lemuria. Who are the big factions and what's the big conflict? How does the player get involved in this civil war?
Bill Roper: Lemuria is the mysterious undersea kingdom of the Lemurians, currently in a state of civil war between those who serve King Arvad and an insurrection of rebels serving dark gods know as the Bleak Ones. The UNTIL submarine The Aegir is stationed in this neighborhood near the ocean's surface, and sends superheroes to help stop the civil war and rescue humanoid Lemurians who want sanctuary from the murderous reptilian Lemurian separatists.
IGN: What are some of the more impressive sites of Lemuria? What's at the top of the list or priorities for new visitors?
Bill Roper: Aside from the cracked domes of Lemuria, you can venture deeper into the ocean, to the The Caliginous Depths. On a shelf below where the Lemurian Civil War is taking place, the Old Lemuria ruins have sat in silences for tens of thousands of years. These ruins date back to the days when Lemuria existed as a civilization on the surface world, before their great doomsday weapon The Mandragalore backfired and sunk their entire continent into the sea.
The area is currently under attack by a mysterious group of shark men known as Karkaradons. They are here attempting to take control of the Mandragalore doomsday weapon. The Japanese research group known as Bureau 17 has a small undersea science station, positioned on the outskirts of this area.
There is also a Russian nuclear sub, The Cherenkov, down here. Lost since the Cold War, it still contains nuclear weapons and other fissionable material, along with even more deadly secrets.
