Scars of War Dev Blog Updates

Having moved to a new blog format, Scars of War lead developer Gareth is bringing us two new updates on his indie RPG title. Realistic Fantasy, not Low Fantasy speaks of the philosophy behind SoW's setting, while SoW Lore - Bank On It introduces us to the Ephestian Catalyst, including new concept art.
Although Jarad al-Ephes was known as one of the finest Artificers and minds of his time, his greatest contribution to the field would not be realized until 200 years after he'd gone to his grave. His various research papers, purchased at auction, had come to reside in the possession of the Hadraxian University library, four decades before the war that saw that distinguished establishment's facilities plundered at the hands of Uuradi invaders.

The University of Hadrax was, at that time, home to a rising star in the field of Artifice, a brilliant and driven young woman by the name of Jolanda il-Astahz. It was Jolanda who realized the value of some of Jarad's more obscure theories and who built upon that foundation to create the fundamental principles of what we now call Resonance Patterning, but which she called (Umbral Attunement).

Via these techniques one can attune the umbral signatures of two objects to each other. To test these principles she created a device she named (The Ephestian Catalyst); with it and the help of some of her fellow students she demonstrated the principles of Umbral Attunement to the senior scholars of her school.
