Dragon Age: Origins Has No Multiplayer

In case you didn't catch it in BioWare's podcast earlier this month, Dragon Age: Origins will not feature any type of multiplayer component. Lead writer David Gaider speaks out on the decision:
But if BioWare had a magic want to implement MP they would do it in a second as it would mean added sales for their game.
Given a magic wand or, barring that, unlimited resources there are a LOT of things we could and would add to the game. That is, however, the limiting factor in the development of all games and not just Dragon Age. Our desire will always exceed our capacity, and the decisions we made early on as we hammered out what kind of game we were making were made as much on what kind of game we could make as what kind of game we wanted to.

At no point, I think, have we implied that MP was cut because we didn't want it. If it was cut, as with all things that are cut, it's because we couldn't make it good -- not without sacrificing something that we valued more.
To be honest, it appears the pulled a Peter Molyneux and promised a great deal in the beginning just to scale back expectations much later on in the design process.
Well, let's be glad we did so well in advance of releasing the game and prior to actually showing anything of the game or giving any serious details of it. There is, after all, still many more months to go and plenty of time to change things that we've said is part of the plan up to this point. As Peter Molyneaux has proven, plans change -- the best we can try to do is give a reasonable heads-up, which I honestly think is the case, here.

That's four single player games in a row now for BioWare. A small-scale co-op option would be nice, but I suppose if it would detract from the single player experience it's probably best this way.
