EverQuest Lead Designer Joins 38 Studios

Following last week's announcement that Travis McGeathy was leaving his position as EverQuest lead designer, Gamasutra reports that the MMORPG veteran has now signed on with 38 Studios to be their systems design lead on Copernicus.
McGeathy will join two other Sony Online vets who hold similar experience with Everquest development, including Steve Danuser, 38's lead content designer and director of community development, who previously acted as SOE's community manager and expansion pack designer on Everquest II.

Former Everquest II lead designer Jason Roberts, who worked on a number of the MMO's expansion and adventure packs, is also at 38 Studios as the company's design director.

The addition follows other recent 38 appointments, including former Comcast Games VP and general manager Jennifer MacLean, who joined the company in March as its vice president of business development.

38 Studios, founded in 2006 by Red Sox pitcher Curt Schilling, is in pre-production on an original fantasy IP driven based on concepts by R. A. Salvatore and Todd McFarlane. Its upcoming products will include an MMORPG, novels, comics, toys, movies, TV, and more.

Said 38 CEO and president Brett Close, "38 Studios is extremely proud of the well-known and highly respected designers, artists, and engineers we've attracted. Having Travis, Jason, and Steve as the nucleus of our design team adds further credibility within the industry, strengthening our commitment to deploying a first-rate MMOG, and ensuring fans that we have the skill and experience to deliver an Online Entertainment Experience like no other."

That's a lot of talented people for one company to handle, isn't it?
