Pirates of the Burning Sea Loses Seven Servers

Flying Lab Software has announced the shutting down of seven of Pirates of the Burning Sea's original eleven servers - a move probably related to the MMO's low population density.
"Through feedback from our players and evaluation of our server populations, it has become clear that key game features require populations of higher density in order to function at optimum levels," said developer Flying Lab Software.

"When you take into account both the disparity in player time zones and the delayed launch of our title in some countries, we were spreading our overall population too thin."

Current PotBS fans living out their faux on the servers scheduled for closure have been given the option to transfer their virtual Blackbeards to one of the remaining four servers.

The company, like almost all MMO firms, refuses to reveal actual subscriber numbers for the game, but server closures, especially this soon after launch, generally suggest that a title hasn't hit its projected population goals.
