Gaming's New Frontiers

Next Generation has one of those articles up that pop up once every now and again; game-making is art.
It's time for everyone in the game industry to embrace this notion, instead of gingerly stepping around it. It's time for people to quit pontificating rubbish about how some games are art because they embrace certain aesthetics, while others are not because they're butt ugly. As if art were ever about mere beauty.

All games are art. Big deal.

We do not place literature above sculpture or music above portraiture. There is no reason, bar ignorance or snobbery, for games to play the snivelling beggar to any other creative endeavour. It's all just stuff.
