Hellgate: London Interview

GamersGlobal has published a three-page interview with Flagship Studios' Tyler Thompson about Hellgate: London's storyline, AI, camera angles, and more.
Q: What about the story: Will players learn what's really behind those Hellgates, or will they just get a cliff hanger in the end?

A: As you know, that game is set about 40 years in the future, the world has been overrun by demons for 20 years. Now, some people decide to fight back and throw the demons out of London. It's a linear story line that takes you from one Truth to the next. You always have to reach a specific room and discover a Truth about Humanity and ourselves. Just by following the quests being given to you, you'll know which level to go to next and what actions to take there. So although Hellgate is very open in terms of side quests and what you can do, you always know how to follow the story line. In the end, we'll obviously reveal some of what's going on. But the initial game is about learning those Truths about Humanity that were forgotten. And going through that will re-establish the Human's race power over the world.
