Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords Reviews

Infinite Interactive's Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords has garnered a handful of glowing reviews since the RPG/puzzle hybrid hit Microsoft's Xbox Live Arcade. The first is at GameSpot with an overall score of 9.0/10:
The appeal of Puzzle Quest for fans of either RPGs or puzzle games is quite obvious, but what's most remarkable about Puzzle Quest is how a simple change of context turns some tired genre conventions into something suitable for just about anyone, regardless of your interest in the components. Despite coming out on XBLA a good half a year after the original DS and PSP releases, Puzzle Quest still feels incredibly fresh and vital, and the changes made in between make it even easier to recommend.

The second is at IGN with an overall score of 9.0/10:
Puzzle Quest was a pleasant surprise when it was released on handhelds earlier this year, and this XBLA version gets me excited all over again. The unlikely marriage of puzzle gameplay with RPG mechanics makes for one of the most addictive experiences available on Microsoft's downloadable service. The minor glitches that were apparent in the DS version are nowhere to be found here. It's also a bargain on XBLA, priced at half the amount of the portable versions. If you haven't played Puzzle Quest, yet, this is a definite download. And if you have it's likely you'll fall in love with its seemingly endless set of quests to be accomplished, different classes to try, and new spells to master all over again. Throw in achievements, higher resolution graphics, and online multiplayer -- Puzzle Quest is a marriage that will last.

The third is at Eurogamer with an overall score of 9/10:
Spruced up from the PSP and offered for 10 quid, it's probably the best release on Microsoft's clever little service all year. Buy it, and wish you had thought of it first. And wish for another one where they come up with even more brilliant ideas.

And the fourth is at Video Game Talk with an overall score of 4.5/5:
While 1200 points seems like a hefty price for an Xbox Live Arcade release, this is actually the cheapest version (PC, DS, PSP) of Puzzle Quest: CotW in existence. The single player campaign is challenging, interesting, and provides a bevy of choices to modify your playstyle. While the multiplayer doesn't offer a huge amount of replay value, it does offer an occasional breath of life when you revisit this title from time to time. If you are a fan of classic role playing games and puzzles, you shouldn't have any second thoughts about snatching up Puzzle Quest: CotW. It's the deepest arcade title currently on Xbox Live and will surely offer hours upon hours of entertainment for all that purchase it.
