There are two other factions new to the game: Iksar and Dragon. The Iksar were actually banished for a while, but have bounced back to reclaim their former homeland even though it's been destroyed by a cataclysmic event (the moon exploding between EQ and EQII). Other effects of the explosion are noted around the area, like shifted tectonic plates that burst out of the ground (which is what took out the Iksar's original stomping grounds, Cabalis), and part of the Swamp of No Hope that has collapsed into a deep ravine.
Then there are the dragons hanging out in Veeshan's Peak. One particularly creative raid has your party fighting against the dragon Xygoz's dreams while he sleeps. Another high level raid in Chelsith, a green cave area through which waft colorful bubbles, features pudgy, almost cartoonish, fishmen.
