As the trailer goes on, we get to see more of the battles and remnants that will define the title, as well as a few new characters. The military leader whose eye is covered in what appears to be a magical patch is joined by a lean, scarred woman who appears to be an expert swordswoman. The remnants are the stars of trailer, though.
Towering over the suspiciously Final Fantasy-ish city is the greatest we've yet seen, an unbelievably massive sword buried in the earth. "Who created these Remnants? How long ago? And for what purpose?" From what we've seen, the Remnants will serve the same purpose as crystals in most Final Fantasy games. We expect to see them as power-ups, deus ex machines, and plot points.
