Space Siege E3 Preview

1Up has cranked out a quick preview of Space Siege, based on what they learned about Gas Powered Games' sci-fi action RPG at the ongoing E3 Media & Business Summit.
Gas Powered Games is scaling back the Dungeon Siege party-based model to focus on just the one character. Why? To provide a concentrated, compelling story with a character players can identify with. The story is a cool one (come on: BattleStar Galactica meets RoboCop!), and the focus on this, rather than on (the obviously still extremely important) play mechanics and engine is nice to see in Gas Powered Games, who have always had the mechanics down cold anyway. An action/RPG with a non-fantasy, sci-fi setting is also relatively rare and welcome these days. And the replayability factor here is interesting: bragging rights are going to come from how much of your humanity you can keep and still beat the game. Is it possible to beat it without taking one single implant? GPG says yes, but they wouldn't dare reveal how.
