NWN2: Mask of the Betrayer Community Update #4

Neverwinter Nights 2 community manager Shane DeFreest stopped by the official forums to post a fourth community update for the game's upcoming Mask of the Betrayer expansion pack.
First off I want to thank everyone who made it out to AKON and got the chance to view the Obsidian presentations. As I'm sure people have now heard the big news that came out of the show was that one (or four depending on you're point of view) of the new playable races is Genasi. Expect to see more about them in the near future.

And now Kevin answers your questions...

Enjoy!

Any classic D&D monsters that we haven't seen in a CRPG D&D game yet?

I doubt there are many/any that haven't been done already. =)

Question: What about epic monsters? after all, epic guys are supposed to fight those uber abominations... hecatonchiri and that nasty spirit follet that hunts the victims, and the huge ice creature with the ancient white dragons living on its shoulders? well, i think i have to read again the epic handbook to look out for their names...

Obsidian: Yeah, we wanted to do that one with the hundred arms, but the animation's a bit tricky. =) Some of the things you fight will be pretty epic and some of the NX1 creatures can be found in the epic handbook.

Question: Will monsters from Monsters of Faerun be included?

Obsidian: Not really.

Question: In case it hasn't been asked: roughly how many unique monsters (not NPCs) will be added to the game? How many will be from epic manual and how many will be from the core monster manual?

Obsidian: Hmm... this is a hard question to answer. Once it's a unique monster, it's kind of automatically an NPC. That is, we're not likely to put in a unique creature that isn't in some way tied into the story or explained in the way you'd explain an NPC. Or do you mean like a specific demon lord (for example)? In general, we steered away from this because such a creature is a lot of work and not as useful to the community as something that's more generic.

Question: Will there be monsters found in the pages of The Unapproachable East? And if so how many?

Obsidian: Yes! Seven (but it depends a little on how you count).
