Official World of Warcraft Item Database Launched

Blizzard Entertainment has announced the availability of an "official" item database for World of Warcraft.
The World of Warcraft Armory has been expanded with a new dimension of information and functionality - the Item Database!

The Armory's Item Database is a comprehensive searchable database of the items of World of Warcraft. As the only official item database for World of Warcraft, it has the exclusive ability to draw information from the actual game servers and is integrated with the Armory's character profiles. It's also designed for ease of use to give you the items you're looking for as quickly and easily as possible.

The database does come with one caveat, however:
Only items that have been 'discovered' in-game (at least one of that item has been acquired) are searchable in the Armory. As a result, some boss loot tables (particularly those of newer raid bosses) may be incomplete, and may appear conspicuously sparse. The loot tables for these and other bosses should gradually populate over time as more of their items are discovered.

Considering that the (fully searchable, 100% accurate) data is pulled directly from the game servers, I'm betting this news doesn't make the web's more popular World of Warcraft spoiler sites too happy. At any rate, though, it seems to be the current trend for MMORPG developers to publish their own databases and/or wikis.
