RPG Vault is offering up their first team Q&A feature for Bethesda's The Elder Scrolls IV: Shivering Isles expansion pack. In it, several key developers answer a single question:
Q: What are some enemies in The Elder Scrolls IV: Shivering Isles that stand out in your mind? What do you find particularly distinctive about each one?
Gary Noonan, Character Animator: Flesh Atronach. I remember sitting at the drawing board before animating this guy; visually, I thought of him as a sort of blind monk. So, I got to work giving him very unique animations that none of the other Elder Scrolls IV creatures had shown to date. The animation system made it tricky to pull off some of the ideas I had, but it still allowed me to create some combat animations that make him one of my favorites. Seeing those attacks in-game really allow him to stand apart from the other creatures.
Scalon. C'mon, who doesn't like the Creature from the Black Lagoon?! I had that in mind the entire time I was animating him. That cool, stealthy, stalking walk. The leaping attacks that you think you are just out of range of, but nope, you were wrong. And good luck in the water with him. Avoiding the water altogether is probably a better idea.
