Vanguard: Saga of Heroes Reviews

SOE and Sigil Games' Vanguard: Saga of Heroes is the subject of three more online reviews. The first is at UGO with an overall score of "B-":
Vanguard: Saga of Heroes feels as though it's geared towards gamers who already have experience with MMO titles. There's very little hand-holding in the early game for newcomers (far less than you see in a title like Guild Wars, for example) and the tutorials for the game's unique features (we're looking at you cursed diplomacy card game) come off as overly complex. Vanguard isn't a loser of a title, and its rich world will probably appeal to longtime MMO gamers, but know beforehand that you'll need a robust machine to run it on (with plenty of space) and a fair amount of patience (or previous background with these sorts of games) to really get into it.

The second is at Games Radar with an overall score of 8/10:
Vanguard has a huge amount of promise, thanks to innovative features that could satisfy everything from a diplomat to a hack and slash addict. The world that it all takes place in is amazing on terms of size and beauty. However, this is a hardcore MMO designed first and foremost for devoted players with lots of time to invest - just to get to level 10 will take you a few days, whereas you can hit that level in WoW in a long afternoon. If you're not looking for a game that will take you on the long haul, maybe World of Warcraft would be a better fit.

And the third is at Driver Heaven with an overall score of 86/100:
So who would I recommend the game to? Those who enjoy a good challenge and want exploration to be an important part of the experience should definitely give Vanguard a try. And let's not forget about the people who (just like me) like well designed worlds with plenty of lore behind every settlement and cave. Pacifist MMO players will also find plenty of things to do in Vanguard. But regardless of which aspect of the game attracts you the most be sure to expect some bugs, at least for the time being.
