Marvel: Ultimate Alliance Wrap Report

RPG Vault has kicked up a five-page wrap report for Marvel: Ultimate Alliance, in which four Raven Software developers reflect back on the development of the action RPG.
Dan Edwards: I have been a big fan of action RPGs over the last eight years or so. The inherent replayability that comes with different character classes and weapon configurations built on top of a game system that continually rewards the player for just playing along makes for hours of fun. There is an innate human characteristic that enjoys being a part of conquering all that opposes you after being there to witness the struggling beginnings. Marvel: Ultimate Alliance really shines in this area as there are so many different characters to choose from, any one of which provides a canvas of customization and strategy.

Bob Love: I had more fun working on Marvel: Ultimate Alliance than is probably allowed by law; writing for iconic heroes like Spider-Man, Wolverine and Captain America was a dream come true. Marvel was incredibly generous in giving us such creative freedom and allowing us to put so many of their characters in one game. I think we were able to make a lot of fans happy by bringing in some of the currently not so mainstream heroes like Dr. Strange and Luke Cage, and some of the lesser known villains like MODOK and Radiation Man. Judging by the response on the forums that merc with a mouth Deadpool was the hands-down favorite, and I have to admit anyone who'd refer to the Ancient One as "Grampy" holds a special place in my heart.
