Depths of Peril Interview

RPG Vault has conducted an interview with Soldak Entertainment's Steven Peeler, in which the lead programmer and designer answers three pages of questions about their upcoming single-player strategy/RPG hybrid, Depths of Peril.
Q: Are you able to estimate what the average duration for the single-player campaign is likely to be?

A: The average play time is essentially up to the player. Depths of Peril is played differently than a typical RPG. You don't simply play through a storyline and finish. Each game is set up more like a strategy game. You start at a selected difficulty for the world and the other covenants, then play until you either win or lose.

After you win or lose a game, you tend to start another, but at a higher difficulty with the same character so you can advance farther into the world, get higher character levels, obtain better equipment, and defeat tougher opponents, both covenants and monsters. Don't worry; your character, everything he owns and all your NPC recruits are persistent, carrying over into each new game just like in a normal RPG.
