The game is set in a near-future London, where a Demon apocalypse has left the world a devastated place. When we left Blizzard Entertainment in July of 2003, David Brevik, Erich Schaefer, Max Schaefer and I sat in Dave's living room and talked about starting a new company and making a new game and world. Dave proposed a design that combined the best elements of Diablo II and games like Half Life 2 - complete randomized play set within a beautiful, true 3D world gamers could experience in full first-person play. As the game has matured, we've been able to provide more and more choices to players, from customization of look to classes, to skills, to whether to play in first- or third-person mode, to supporting both single and full MMO-style play.
