SWG Chapter 3: Smugglers and Scoundrels Interview

RPG Vault has published a two-page interview with LucasArts producer Jake Neri about the team's Chapter 3: Smugglers and Scoundrels update for Star Wars Galaxies.
Q: How do the new Smuggler and Officer expertise systems work, and what kinds of abilities have been implemented within them?

A: For the smuggler, we've implemented two paths players can take that will allow them to specialize in various abilities. One takes them toward a specialty in combat, including fist fighting and pistols. The other focuses more on smuggling, giving them abilities like Fast Talk and Sly Lie, which tips interactions with authorities in their favor, giving them a better chance to conceal cargo or whatever they might want to hide.

Officers can also select from two paths, one that gives them specialty in helping their groups and one that allows them to call NPC reinforcements to help them in solo combat. These reinforcements are fully functional soldiers that will obey all commands.

Obviously, these are simplified breakdowns of each profession. There is a huge variety of abilities, options, and configurations that a player can choose to make their character unique.
