Hellgate: London Preview

IGN PC brings us the latest hands-on preview of Hellgate: London, after checking out Flagship Studios' action RPG firsthand during this year's Tokyo Game Show.
Cash and sometimes items pop out of downed enemies in Hellgate. The money is picked up when you walk over it, and hitting F moves items from the ground to your inventory (provided you have enough space). We didn't need to be standing directly over an item to pick it up. The game conveniently allows for items to be suctioned to the player by holding F, eliminating the need for having to park your character directly over an object. We grabbed a few different swords from fallen foes and breakable environmental boxes, as well as a shield. One sword was fused with green-tinted organic material and left a unhealthy-looking cloud hanging in the air over an enemy's corpse. Another had purple crystalline structures grafted to its blade, and unleashed some kind of like-colored energy into foes. The shield wasn't just a defensive weapon. When equipped, it doubled as a thrusting weapon, capable of knocking opponents off balance.
