Q: Hi Roy, although many Conan fans will need no introduction to you, tell us a little bit about how you came to be so involved with the great barbarian?
A: It was really mostly by accident. I bought the early paperbacks for their Frazetta (and Krenkel, in the case of KULL) covers, but didn't read more than a few pages of CONAN THE ADVENTURER. A year or three later, readers were telling us we should get the rights to Conan or some other sword-and-sorcery character... so Stan Lee and I listened, and I made it a special project of mine. When a bid to license Lin Carter's Thongor was stalled by his agent, I contacted Glenn Lord about Conan, and a deal was
struck.
