Overall, Factions is a very welcome addition to the Guild Wars game. ArenaNet has promised more expansions in the line of Factions. I like this method of adding content, and I like that new players can pick up just Factions without having to buy Guild Wars to join in the fun. New content, new professions, new ways to fight for prominence, and new ways to kill your friends. All while retaining the older content and without making any of it of less value.

Factions doesn't really accomplish anything especially new as far as the original game is concerned, except for the usual addition of new character classes, skills, weapons, etc though that's probably a good thing. By so doing it avoids alienating an already massive gaming community, and keeps the same winning formula needed to produce an excellent sequel for new gamers to sink their teeth into.
