Auto Assault First Impressions

GameSpy is offering up their first impressions of NCsoft and NetDevil's Auto Assault, now that the vehicular MMORPG has been released to the masses. Here's a teaser:
In fact, customizability seems to lie at the heart of this game. The Auto Assault loot system, for example, is dynamically generated, as well as being intimately tied into the crafting system. Loot is randomly generated and the majority that players find, such as armor and weaponry, is going to be broken. Broken items need to be fixed using materials that drop from enemies or from the environment. A low level chemical laser, for example, might require salvaged plastic and salvaged rubber that can be acquired by destroying almost any ruined building. Really high-end stuff, such as armor that resists multiple types of damage and increases player stats, might need functional LEDs and a special alloy that's only available from high-end bosses.
