Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures Peek #4

RPG Vault has published the fourth installment to their ongoing "peek" feature for Funcom's online RPG, Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures. This time around, the article discusses creating a brutal combat system to fit the Conan universe. A snip:
We also have a unique targeting system. You can strike anywhere you want, as long as you hit the attack button (as opposed to most other online RPGs, where you can only attack one target at a time). You do not need to have a specific monster or opponent targeted to strike, and a simple push of a button is what initiates the attack. This means that, in the instance of a multitude of enemies, you can strike several targets at once, and also fluidly move between targets depending on where you direct your character and the attack. There will be ways of targeting though, and you will clearly see that you have an enemy targeted through symbols, but exactly how this plays out is something we will get back to. Moreover, you have other character moves during combat, including rolls, strafe as well as having a step-back. This makes for a more dynamic and action-orientated gaming experience.
