Dark Age of Camelot: Darkness Rising Review

Voodoo Extreme has conjured up a review of Dark Age of Camelot: Darkness Rising, giving the expansion pack an overall score of 7/10. Their conclusion to follow:
As far as Dark Age of Camelot expansions go, Darkness Rising doesn't actually add any new land except for some instanced quest areas and a new dungeon. Nor is there a new engine upgrade that most Camelot players have grown to expect since the Catacombs client is still in use. What they do add is mounts (some require champion levels completed and cost upwards of 15 plat), which players who might not normally have any speed will enjoy. Plus also granted a little versatility to vanilla classes who now have a little extra utility. The one time drops are also decent and fit well with the new Epic armor quests (not DR specific), and the necklace from the last mob is stellar. The champion weapons are exceptionally nice, although the caster staves really aren't a huge step up from existing artifacts. The capital cities all received much needed public works and Darkness Falls got a nice once over and looks great. After visiting the old world in the quests, its apparent that Mythic needs to do some serious work touching up the older zones, but I'm sure that will come eventually (it was nice running around with no graphics lag, however). In the end, Darkness Rising is a must have for any active player; doesn't make you jump through a month of hoops ala Trials of Atlantis and gives everyone new abilities and loot.
