Guild Wars is, without a doubt, something new in the world of online gaming. It becomes something new by embracing much of what is old, and mixing it together in what at first seems like a really odd hybrid of a typical MMORPG and a typical action-RPG. What comes out, through the details, is an addictive, free online game riding the cutting edge of bandwidth conservation using heavy instancing throughout. Although Guild Wars won't likely begin a revolution in online gaming, it's certainly an addictive evolution of current fantasy trends worthy of attention.
