GenCon 2005 Report

RPG Vault is offering a three-page report of this year's GenCon, in which they provide short previews of D&D Online, DAoC: Darkness Rising, City of Villains, and more. A snip about Dungeons & Dragons Online:
I was surprised at how well the monster AI felt like playing the tabletop game; skeleton archers would take up points around the terrain to attack with bows, while more melee-inclined monsters would try to tie you up before the players can defeat the archers. After defeating all of the monsters in the crypt, players had to battle a giant spider-like monster to end the demo.

Turbine has done well capturing the feel of how Dungeon and Dragons plays. From the little I played, it still seems like the company still has some work to do capture the feel of Eberron; the demo felt more like a generic fantasy world than the setting on which it is based. Dungeon and Dragons Online is due out next year.
