Guild Wars Reviews

A trio of new reviews for ArenaNet's Guild Wars are now available, all of which give the game a favorable score. The first is at MMORPG.com with an overall score of 8.1/10:
In the end Guild Wars is one of the best games, MMO or otherwise, to hit the shelves in a long while. It provides gripping combat, artfully told story and brilliant visuals as only a top notch contender can do. It's few minor shortcomings have little effect on the game as a whole and ArenaNet's dedication to the game, considering the lack of a subscription fee, is a bright star in the world of online gaming. Look for Guild Wars to be around...and be popular...for a long time to come.

The second is at Yahoo! News with an overall score of 3/4:
While there are plenty of vistas to savor, from mountains and waterfalls to devastated fortresses, you can't walk up to them and freely explore. "Guild Wars" instead strictly limits your movements to mazelike paths around all the pretty scenery.

I'm not too upset, though. What it lacks in depth, "Guild Wars" more than makes up for with frenzied team missions and cutthroat player-vs.-player battles.

And the third is at ClockerZ with an overall score of 5/5:
Overall I think Guild Wars is a piece of gaming genius, and it gets thumbs up on my book any day. It is progressive, cooperative and competitive, you get to meet all kinds of new people, and it certainly doesnt neglect the weaker players. With the quests being personally generated with your character in mind, makes this game fun and able to play for anybody, including new MMORPG players. The Idea of running guilds is appealing and, in my opinion, is an awesome idea for competition among players.
