Gauntlet: Seven Sorrows Interview

ComputerAndVideoGames.com has conducted an interview with Midway Games' John Romero, in which the former id Software founder talks about his role as creative director for Gauntlet: Seven Sorrows. An excerpt:
Q: The Gauntlet series has also gone through some difficult times. How do you hope to revitalise the Gauntlet name?

A: First, Gauntlet is all about action, Action, ACTION! This one needed to live up to the legacy but also be designed for today's audience - we want more gameplay options and not the same old game. Adding RPG elements to a super action game moves Gauntlet into another genre, the Action RPG; and we're happy with what we're seeing. Adding combo-based fighting moves with multiple weapon types and skill trees makes the fighting much deeper than the typical Action RPG button masher.
