Guild Wars Reviews

ArenaNet's Guild Wars has started off on a good foot, with two very positive review scores for the MMORPG hitting the web yesterday. The first is at GameSpot with an overall score of 9.2/10:
It seems like a common observation among longtime game players that games have gotten shorter and smaller over the years. The rigors of game design are such that it's generally just not reasonable to expect games that are both of very high quality and that are also very long, but at the same time, there's something to be said for a tightly paced gaming experience. Still, you can never have too much of a good thing. But Guild Wars comes awfully close. It pulls out all the stops to win you over.

And the second is at Inside Gamer Online with an overall score of 9.0/10:
It's impossible to describe the joy playing Guild Wars offers. It isn't particularly deep, but it's highly rewarding nonetheless. A friendly design and interface, and the simple, elegant combat, are bound to appeal to a wide range of gamers. As you can guess, this isn't a title for solo players, although the AI henchmen will ease the challenge if you are in a solo mood, or if the more colorful players in the district are more annoying than helpful. However, anyone looking for the definitive online action role-playing experience need look no further: in Guild Wars, the old meets the new, and the result is an addictive, breathtakingly fluid experience--and the year's first must-buy RPG.
