Auto Assault Q&A

Boomtown has published a Q&A with NetDevil project lead Scott Brown about their upcoming vehicular post-apocalyptic MMORPG, Auto Assault. Check it out:
Q: The Auto Assault trailers have been highly action-packed, how exactly have you worked out the balance between action and RPG?

A: This is a great question. When we started the design on the game we knew it would be difficult to combine high speed action with the long term fun of character development found in current RPGs, both MMOs and single player games. What we have come up with is a system where the player still must drive the vehicle, no click and move here type controls, and must line up enemies into the players TacArcs, pie wedges that represent the weapons range, and pull the trigger. However, once the player fires it is a dice roll based on attributes, skills and items of both the shooter and the target that determine if you hit, if you critical and how much damage do you do.
