A Parental Guide to Role Playing Games, Part One

GamerDad has released the first installment to a new editorial entitled "A Parental Guide to Role Playing Games", in which they offer advice to parents whose children are interested in RPGs. Listen up:
While RPGs are limited only to one's imagination, they can be described using three main attributes. The most obvious is genre. RPGs have been created to describe pretty much every style of fictional literature that exists: superheroes, fantasy, science fiction, you can even play as a team of bugs or in a world of cartoon characters. A few RPG rulebooks are designed to be used in any genre and can switch genres or styles with the addition of a few genre-specific rules. Some genres, such as superheroes, tend to be light and witty while vampire or Gothic RPGs will often have a darker, more sinister tone. So, some game systems will be predisposed to a more mature audience than others.
