The Matrix Online Preview

The folks at Stratics are offering up a detailed preview of Monolith's The Matrix Online, now that the game's NDA has officially been lifted. Here's a bit to get you started:
Agents?!? You thought there was a truce with the Machines and the Agents would leave you alone, right? Well, you were sort of right. You're free to wander the Slums as much as you like. Strike out into one of the other Districts however, and you may encounter an Agent. In order to avoid this, you must locate special terminals called Access Nodes. Tagging an Access Node gives you quite a bit of XP and substantially reduces your chance of being chased down by an Agent. Each Neighborhood in the three Districts you're not supposed to be in (Barrens, International and Downtown) has an Access Node, which shines a beam of green light about 10m straight into the air. Even tagging an Access Node only reduces, not eliminates, your chances of your unauthorized presence being detected in a restricted zone. By the way, if you take too long to finish a mission, Agents will lock on to your position. If you see an Agent, run! Only Neo could defeat an Agent, and that is still true in MxO. The point of all this? People who enjoy exploring the world have a lot to live for in this game.
