Star Wars: KotOR II Reviews

The latest reviews for LucasArts and Obsidian's Star Wars: KotOR sequel can be found at Gamehelper and GameXC. Gamehelper gives the game an overall score of 8.3/10:
Wow, what more can I say about this game? How about this: if you liked the original you're going to love the sequel. On the positive side we've got better characters, a really deep story that finally questions just what really makes a Jedi a Jedi, prestige character classes, lightsaber forms that add a new element to the fighting, and most importantly, we've got HK-47 back and he says "meatbags." On the downer, it's all about the graphics, small maps, recycled alien vocals, an anti-climatic finish to an amazing story and Carth makes a few appearances. When it comes down to it, this really is about as sequel as it gets folks. It's the same game fundamentally with some more polish, new characters and an engaging plot. If you finished the first game with a lust for more, then Knights of the Old Republic II Sith Lords is more than enough to satisfy your primal urges.

And GameXC gives the game an overall score of 9.5/10:
After three full completions of the spell-binding storyline presented throughout KOTOR II, I can say that I've thoroughly enjoyed time and money well-spent with the offerings delivered from this top-tier title. Each playthrough can feel unique, because you can play entirely different, everytime. Your actions will carry an actual consequence (unlike some other hyped title that failed to deliver) and will force you to choose between right and wrong. Considering that your fellow companions will either cheer or jeer your decisions adds even more to the morality visualized within this game. As I mentioned earlier, you'll find the greedy-gremlin inside yourself always wanting to go towards the dark-side, to take what you want and flaunt your power, to take lives for personal amusement, to become all-powerful! It's draw is so magnetic, it's hard to pull away from, even when you're set on being heroic or being a do-gooder. The only minor complaints to be had with this title is the minor graphical glitches, now and again, the sometime battle lag and a decent amount of time spent with loading screens. These issues can be mildly irritating, but not enough to truly affect your gaming experience. I felt the story was taken to the next step in this iteration, giving you more freedom. You'll see immediate results to light and dark-side choices now, whereas before they didn't really take effect until the end of the journey. The cast of characters are just as likable, and just as memorable from the first, including some of the originals back, to add even more to their sagas. The robust combat system never falls into the combat-grind category present with most RPG's. Most of all, you feel as if you're playing a role in this universe. Making a difference to these worlds. A feeling not a lot other games can acheive. In all honesty, if I had to choose right now, with the year almost over, I would give this game my vote for Game of the Year, for the simple reason of innovativeness in gameplay. If you like RPG's, or are a SW fan... actually no matter what kind of video game preferences you have, there is an intoxicating experience to be had with this title. Don't stray from it's location at your local video games dealer. Grab it with pride and take it to the counter, and spend money well-earned, and well put to use.
