After playing through a little of the single-player game and appreciating how it manages to continue to keep doing right what the first game did the next obvious step was to go online. CoN was marred by a very rocky online implementation that was ripe for abuse by anyone who even remotely tried to mess with it. Item and gold duplication were dirt simple to pull off and it quickly became a cheater's paradise.
This time around it is still possible to go online with an offline character just like before and so those problems will likely continue, but there is also a server side save that can be done as well. After creating an online account players can make a character that can only be played online and it will be saved on the servers themselves. In fact, after this the saving will become almost invisible. The emphasis is more on just playing the game as much as possible.
