The Bard's Tale Reviews

The Bard's Tale continues to be the subject of varied reviews around the web, with three more to report about today. The first is at eToyChest with an overall score of 70%:
Overall, the Bard's Tale is a light-hearted romp through different RPG clichés and worlds that delivers just what it promises. It's fun, funny, and probably one of the best dungeon crawling action RPGs in our current generation. Of course, it's a tired genre, so coming out on top of it's predecessors is not a huge accomplishment. It does a good job at poking fun at itself for being a mediocre game, but in the long run, it's still a mediocre game.

The second is at CNN.com with no overall score:
"The Bard's Tale" is not a bad pick, but the clever dialogue and comic moments aren't enough to make up for run-of-the-mill game play. Seasoned gamers will get a kick out of the RPG customs it parodies, but the game can be enjoyed just as much as a weekend rental, at a fraction of the price.

And the third is at Gaming Horizon with an overall score of 7.2/10:
It's really a shame when the game's humor is what keeps this title afloat rather than its gameplay. Take out the humor and the excellent voiceactors and all you're left with is a mediocre dungeon crawl that others out there do better. However, the bottom line is that the fanciful story and wryly written and superbly delivered humor are worth trudging through the sometimes unfulfilling dungeon crawl.
