When you die, all your equipped items have their durability reduced by 25%. All items in the game decay, so your Gloves of Uberness go from 20/20 to 15/20 when you resurrect at your body. At low levels, getting repairs is relatively cheap, so it's not a huge problem. But I don't have the money to replace my wardrobe after dying four times in a row, so eventually I had to log out. Or, rather, the client crashed. I may still be logged in according to the database, which is struggling to keep track of every player's inventory and quest list.
