Another Handful of Fable Reviews

The reviews just keep piling up for Fable, with the latest batch all falling in the positive spectrum. The first is over at Videogames.co.nz with an overall score of 94%:
Fable has certainly put its hand up for Xbox game of the year and while it will be tough to beat a title like Halo 2 out for the final prize it is still a must have title for almost every Xbox owner. As your character evolves in real time no two games are ever the same and once you've played through the game through once you can start it all over again, this time taking a completely different approach. Whilst it does adhere loosely to an RPG this is more of an adventure game like the Legend of Zelda. It encourages the player to explore rather than worry about leveling up and battling hoards of enemies. Overall, Fable is a fun to play RPG without all the fuss and bother that can bog down some titles. 'A' grade all the way.

The second is at RewiredMind with an overall score of 9/10:
For a game that has been in development for a long-time, it shouldn't come as any surprise that it is very polished. Voice acting is flawless with all the characters having a variety of accents, the score is grandiose and hits all the right notes, all held together by the polish and slick nature of the aesthetics, which can't be faulted. I've barely scrapped the surface of what Fable is capable of. Fable's magic lies in its ability to involve the player in every decision; it's your choice whether you slaughter the occupants of a house that you want, it's your choice whether to destroy Twinblade, it's your choice whether you want to marry and own three homes.

The third is at Kikizo Games with an overall score of 8/10:
The tide is changing for console RPGs. Where once Japanese developed titles dominated, Western games are now coming in to fill the void left by the ostensible stagnation in the genre. Fable is an excellent example of a game done well. The story is decent (if rather generic), the battle system is great, and Albion is a place I didn't want to leave. The experience is brief, but there's so much to do that you can put off facing the final boss for weeks and still have fun. And when you are done, you can go through it all again, only this time, trying to be as evil as you can.

And the fourth is at GamePlanet with an overall score of 4/5:
In the end a lot of the enjoyment players get from Fable will depend on how far they are able to dig. Gamers who just follow along the main story's path will find quite a shallow game, in which the main quest will finish all too soon. For gamers happy to explore Albion and talk to its citizens, Fable becomes a far richer game, full of history and character, and on that basis it is certainly a game that we can recommend.
