GameSpy's third Star Wars Galaxies: Jump to Lightspeed developer diary provides a look at lead designer Cinco Barnes' past and present in the game development business. A snip:
We knew that would be really fun, but we also knew that a Star Wars virtual world had to include starships and epic space adventures. Of course -- it's good to know these things. Hell, everybody "knows" these sorts of things, but knowing doesn't amount to a game unless you buckle down and build it. Now, doing the first part (constructing a huge, land-based, massively multiplayer Star Wars experience) would take a very, very long time. The second part? Maybe not so long -- but wickedly difficult.
