BioWare Unreal Engine 3 Q&A

HomeLan Fed has conducted an interview with BioWare's Ray Muzyka and Greg Zeschuk, in which the joint-CEOs discuss their decision to license Epic's Unreal Engine 3 for an upcoming RPG. A snippet:
Q: What does the UnrealEngine3 tech bring to the table for BioWare?

A: The Unreal Engine 3 is a great engine that will provide a solid base for the project which it is being used. We'll take the great visuals that the engine allows and add a deep RPG component, thereby allowing us to create an exceptionally cinematic and atmospheric role-playing experience that will appeal to fans of BioWare's past titles, as well as hopefully draw in fans of other genres with its stunning visuals and unique gameplay experience. Clearly the Unreal Engine 3 demos speak for themselves, and combining them with a deep BioWare-style RPG experience will result in something very special.

Also, this licensure of a high-quality externally developed engine allows us to diversify the type of games we make, serving as a bridge to allow us to get a next-gen game done in a timely manner, and in parallel our Technology Architecture Group (TAG) is continuing BioWare's own engine technology development, which is shaping up to be really impressive we're really committed to our future tech development so we're putting a lot of resources into it!
