More D&D Game Previews

UGO brings us a detailed look at Atari's 2004/2005 lineup, providing previews of such games as D&D Online, Dragonshard, Forgotten Realms: Demon Stone, and more. A snip about D&D Online:
Despite its young age, D&D: Online is looking extremely promising. Of course, the game will feature some of the classic D&D staples, like orcs, sorcerers and elves. But where the game differs from the pen and paper obsession is in execution. See, instead of the turn-based, slow-paced combat that the original game is known for, D&D: Online features real-time combat. And I don't mean the quasi-real-time combat of Galaxies or EverQuest. I mean, when you click, you actually swing your sword! No longer will you be able to run up to an enemy, click the auto-attack button, and go off to make a sandwich for a few minutes. In the demo, our knight was pulling off sword combos with multiple timed clicks of the mouse and dodging oncoming enemies with acrobatic rolls. At this early stage, D&D: Online appears to be the most "active" MMO we've ever seen. Diablo fans looking for a truly persistent world to explore, with hack and slash gameplay, should definitely keep an eye on D&D: Online as it continues along its development path.
