The Fall - Last Days of Gaia Diary #6

RPGVault continues their designer diaries for Silver Style's upcoming post-apocalyptic RPG, The Fall - Last Days of Gaia, with the sixth installment discussing the creation of the gameworld. An excerpt to follow:
The design of the terrain profile is up to the level designer. However, he has to take into account conditions and suggestions provided by the game designer. Is the location set in the lowlands or in a region dominated by hills or mountains? Or maybe the game designer had a valley in mind when thought out a particular part in the game? In that case, a valley is what the level designer has to realize. And what region is this zone located in - Arizona, New Mexico or Texas?

Once the terrain has been finished, the designer starts refining the level. Paths, roads and buildings are placed first. The next map element to be taken care of is the vegetation. Trees and bushes spice up the landscape. After that, smaller objects such as wrecks, trash bins, barrels and the like are being incorporated to complete the map.
