Q: How worried about you about comparisons between Vanguard and EverQuest?
A: Not worried in the slightest. First, EQ is the most successful MMOG in North America, and many of us were there to see it hit that zenith. We're extremely proud of it. So comparisons are going to be made because it's the most popular and because of the involvement we had in its creation (for example, Steve Clover and I co-wrote the original EQ design document). It's almost analogous to a band writing their second album they're proud of the first, but the second has to bring things to a new level. Vanguard is the same way we need to bring this whole genre to the next generation, to both build on proven foundations, but to also innovate and take us into some exciting but uncharted territory.
