The only thing that Ender and Barry could sensibly do was to form a hasty alliance and go on the offensive against the Imperial troops. An unholy pact was quickly formed, strike forces were assembled, and the troops of the Dark Path rolled out towards the Imperial Capital.
They say that evil is its own greatest enemy because it always falls back upon itself. However, in this battle, it is uncertain whether evil was the greatest enemy or whether good sense just took a holiday. Ender's troops engaged the enemy. Barry's troops engaged the enemy. A huge battle raged across the middle of the map.
Suddenly Barry exclaimed, "I've killed his hero!" At which point Ender looked rather perplexed and said, "That was my hero!" Yes, Ender and Barry had been fighting each other, and Mighty Mick was left sniggering at the top of the peninsula as he gathered the Imperial Forces for a final and decisive push.
