The Bucklebury Ferry is a large, flat ferry-boat that connects the banks of the Eastfarthing of the Shire to Buckland and Bree-land beyond. While most Shire Hobbits have misgivings about rivers and deep fears of the sea, the Hobbits of Buckland are quite fond of boats and swimming. They enjoy poling the Bucklebury Ferry across the slow, broad Brandywine River.
