City of Heroes Previews

Three more previews for City of Heroes, Cryptic Studios' upcoming superhero MMORPG, have hit the web. The first is over at TechTV:
Dateline Paragon City. The once proud center of justice, known as the "City of Heroes," now struggles to survive. Bands of gun-toting, drug-addled thugs roam the streets freely, harassing and assaulting the ordinary citizens at will. Darker, unnamed menaces lurk in the hidden areas of the city. The legions of powerful superheroes who once patrolled the streets are decimated.

The second is at Jive Magazine:
Everything is customizable, giving you choices on top of other choices that determine everything from the look on your face to the type of boots you'll be wearing to the color of your hair to the pattern of your shirt to the emblem on your chest. Words just do not do this justice. So let's try some chalky white skin, some dusty gray hair, a jaunty black beret and a tailored suit with tie to match. Add a kickass tribal pattern down the side of each leg. Give him some stylish glasses and a trendy coffee-house beardthingy. Et viola, he is The Dead Parisian! Give him some Gauloises before he kicks your derriere with his outrageous accent! With over "2.24 x 10 to the 24th" distinct combinations, the City of Heroes will give players one of the most sought after in-game online experiences of them all: Never running into your identical online twin, ever.

And the third is at Gamer's Hell:
First off, it's graphically gorgeous. Most games are these days of course, but, the special effects of the flight, powers being used are amazing. I didn't find the controls intuitive. I'm unsure if it's something they are working still or if it's finished but in the humble opinion of someone who gets lost alot, it needs to be fleshed out a bit. The characters are amazing! You won't have 2 characters that look the same. The city around you is crazy cool.
