City of Heroes In-Game Tour Report

RPGVault has written up a new article in which they detail a recent guided tour they had with Cryptic Studios CEO Michael Lewis through their upcoming MMORPG, City of Heroes. Check it out:
We learned the Cryptic team is committed to creating a fun, accessible experience incorporating a fast-paced combat system. Lewis told us some design inspirations are drawn from console games. One feature illustrating this point is the ability for certain boss monsters to reanimate, arising with transformed appearances after being beaten the first time. Another example is found in the tactical variety of villain types. For instance, certain criminals carry bombs tat detonate if you stay close to them for too long. The explosive and its bearer can be dispatched safely if it is hit repeatedly. The tempo of combat tends to move fairly quickly and can be quite challenging. To assist in these situations, single-use boosters called Inspirations may be used to regain health, raise damage, improve accuracy, augment defense et al. You receive these fairly frequently from defeated foes, at an approximate rate of once in every three battles. Players start with three slots, with more becoming available through leveling up.
