A bit further out, but still deep in development, are player-owned vehicles. This is still in the development phase, so I wasn't able to see it in actual gameplay, but I was shown a video that demonstrated what land-based vehicles would be capable of. There are three initial single-seat vehicles being created: Swoop bikes, speeder bikes (a la those contraptions from Return of the Jedi) and land speeders (like Luke's in A New Hope). The vehicles in the video presentation moved at a very high rate of speed, and when you think that these things were not on rails, but fully controlled by a player, the possibilities for exploration of wilderness that previously seemed prohibitively vast open up. In addition, you can perform nifty stunts like long jumps should you decide to drive at high speed off a cliff.
