Star Wars: KotOR Developer Diary #4

IGN Xbox's fourth installment of their Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Developer Diary feature has been posted. Written by producer Casey Hudson, this latest diary takes a final look at the blood, sweat, and tears that went into making the RPG. Here's a taste:

Now that we're starting to receive lines for the alien languages, we can see how our aliens lip-synch their final lines in the game. That's especially interesting with aliens that don't have lips! Fortunately, our system is extremely flexible, allowing us to move pretty much any part of a character's facial anatomy when they speak a particular sound. That way, our star female character can have cute, demure lip movements, while our slimy Hutt gangsters can have mouth and tongue movements worthy of their vile appearance. Without this procedural system, we wouldn't be able to have precise lip-synching for the tens of thousands of character lines that help tell the cinematic story in the game.
