Player owned/built/modified buildings: Players and guilds can build their own castles, cities (complete with NPC's) and homes in the game world. This has always struck me as common sense for MMORPG's. Giving players the ability to leave their mark on the world (within reason), makes them residents of the fantasy world. It's all about atmosphere.
